TRAMP

On October 1st of this year, I signed my first book contract with North Star Press of St. Cloud, Minnesota. The middle grade novel, Tramp, The World's Best Dog Detective, is the first in a series. That is the hope of many middle grade writers, to have a series that appeals to lots of middle grade kids. Here he is, the inspiration for the book. He did exist and is still part of family and neighborhood conversation. By neighborhood I mean Lake of the Isles, in Minneapolis. That is the setting for the series that starts with Tramp's introduction and his gathering of a cohort of animal detectives. Their first assignment is solving the mystery of the "Talented Animal Kidnapping Ring." Tramp has the tenacity and wisdom of Sherlock Holmes and he shares these skills with family, neighborhood friends and a few of the talented animals he rescues. Oh, he does enlist the help of the local police.

Tramp is scheduled for a March, 2014 release. The editor/author editing process starts soon. I will share the editing process in this blog and describe the marketing process which is a challenge not dissimilar from the writing itself.
